How women & families can take part in Movember with Gillette #Mo4aBro

Mo4aBro picMen’s health is at the forefront of many people’s minds this month with Movember, which was launched in 2003 and helps to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancers as well as men’s mental health and suicide prevention. We’re delighted to be working with Gillette on its #Mo4aBro campaign.

Gillette has been Movember’s official Shave Care partner since 2012. Every year, the UK’s number one male grooming brand successfully campaigns to spread the word to its own audience and beyond, to highlight the critical work Movember does. When you buy a Gillette razor or styler pack from Tesco you’re not only helping the proliferation of well-groomed moustaches in your family, you are donating, with 1 pack = 1 donation. (Go here to purchase!) Spread the word so others know as well!

The #Grow4aBro campaign is about how women and families can support the men in our lives, encouraging them to ‘grow for a bro’, contributing directly to the cause and taking advantage of the Tesco Movember retail offer which gives £5 to the charity on every pack sold and spreading the word on Movember!

How women and families can #Grow4aBro

Gillette pack for MovemberMost of us females cannot ‘grow a mo’, but we are the partners, the mothers, the sisters, the ‘talk about anything’ best friends – the ones that help get our men to the doctors when there is something not quite right!

Early diagnosis can help men live happier and healthier for longer and since 2003 Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.

We teamed up with Gillette to hold a #Mo4aBro campaign Twitter conversation about how we are supporting the men in our lives and as usual, you didn’t disappoint, with fun pictures and heartwarming messages.

How the causes of #Mo4aBro touch us

Gillette StylerI was talking to my husband and his best friend last week and they both admitted they avoid talking about their health and feelings- it’s something that needs changing. Well done to @GilletteUK for helping to address this! @SianW86

I don’t think there’s anyone who hasn’t been touched by cancer. With men often ignoring signs this campaign is brilliant for bringi

ng more ‘blokey’ issues to the forefront @angep1969

I think many men feel that way because society still expects them to be ‘strong’ and fearless which is so ridiculously wrong, I can’t even find the right words for it. Also, there’s still such a stigma attached to mental health issues @Caro_Mad

We’ve been affected by mental health. We lost a cousin last year and we had no idea he had been suffering. It’s so important to talk about @Vickydoo

My husband spent the first 25 years of his life not showing or talking about his feelings to anybody. They only saw a happy-go-lucky person. They didn’t know how much he was struggling underneath. He says I saved him as he spoke to me about all of it as soon as we met @magentawillow

I think we’ve made big steps compared to just a decade or two ago but I don’t think theMum in the Madhouse Movemberre’ll ever be a time where there’s no need for further improvement regarding the services on offer etc. @Caro_Mad

We need to change men’s attitudes so they seek medical help sooner @missielizzieb

I think men tend to think they need to be strong all the time and hate the idea of displaying any form of weakness. I’m glad that my fella gets the chance of a regular ‘well man assessment’ through work. @angep1969

My husband’s best friend was affected last year but luckily it was caught early thanks to his wife’s concern. As a mum of 4 boys, it does play on my mind @Chelseamamma

Good job I have the emergency moustache box! Think I’m going to take it to work for a fundraising idea! @Flickabella1

Sponsored walks/runs are great ideas- I learnt about the power of exercise in mental and physical health in my previous role @flickabella1
